    Leaves: basal sheaths leafless, usually redbrown;
    blades amphistomic, 5-8 mm wide, papillose on both surfaces.
    Inflorescences: peduncle of proximal spike not more than 4 cm;
    proximal bract longer than inflorescence, 4–8 mm wide.
